Chief Instructor & Founder
Dan Weecks is an airline pilot (FAA certified Commercial Pilot (ASEL/AMEL)) and a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/CFI-I). He founded DW Aviation, LLC in 2018 with a focus on providing the greatest value to students. This is done by continually furthering his knowledge, professional development, and keeping current with new technology and teaching methods. Throughout his career instructing, Dan has had experience teaching both Part 141 and Part 61. He has been part of professional groups as a pilot and has participated in voluntary continuing education, given presentations to audiences about aviation safety, and has volunteered as an instructor for the EAA’s Young Eagles.
Prior to becoming a pilot, Dan was involved in media and emerging technologies at which time he participated in the NTIA Best Practice think-tank and discussions about UAV regulations, which later became the 14 CFR Part 107 drone regulations. As the first person in the State of Arizona to be certified as a drone operator under Part 107, Dan also provides drone training in addition to regular fixed wing flight training.
