Dan Weecks
Chief Instructor & Founder
Dan Weecks is an FAA certified Commercial Pilot (ASEL/AMEL) and a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/CFI-I). In addition to being a flight instructor, Dan has worked as a Part 135 First Officer and airline Captain. Dan founded DW Aviation in 2018 with a focus on providing the greatest value to students. Throughout his career instructing Dan has had experience teaching both Part 141 and Part 61. He has been part of professional groups as a pilot and has participated in voluntary continuing education, given presentations to audiences about aviation safety, and has volunteered as an instructor for the EAA’s Young Eagles and Aviation Explorers.
Prior to becoming a pilot, Dan was involved in multimedia and emerging technologies. During this time Dan participated in the NTIA Best Practice think-tank and discussions about UAV regulations, which later became the 14 CFR Part 107 sUAS rule-set. As the first person in the State of Arizona to be certified as a drone operator under Part 107, Dan also provides drone training in addition to fixed wing flight training.
